Delayed by Design
Denver, CO- Furniture Row® Racing struggled at Martinsville last weekend. A design flaw affected the handling of the #78 car, and without enough time to correct the problem, the team missed qualifying. However, according to Crew Chief Joe Garone it was another valuable opportunity to gain knowledge and experience regarding the set up of the short track car.Tony Stewart won Martinsville in a paint-trading duel with Jimmie Johnson, and overcame Hendrick Motorsports' long domination at the track.
Stewart and Johnson jockeyed nose-to-bumper, and side-by-side for four laps Sunday, bringing the 65,000 fans to their feet. After being rebuffed three times, Stewart finally got around Johnson with 27 laps to go and held on to win the DirectTV 500.
Furniture Row® Racing is headed to Texas Motor Speedway this week with the challenge of dialing in a new car on a track they haven't tested on. Driver Kenny Wallace will have his hands full maneuvering Texas' 1.5 quad-oval. The track is notorious for its slick-racing surface, however with millions of dollars of renovations and reconfigurations to improve the racing surface and the turns, the track has become more popular.
Texas will be the final race where Furniture Row® Racing showcases "The Benchwarmers" logo from the new film on the hood of the 78 car.
